Group Product Manager

The Group Product Manager is a hybrid role that is an individual contributor but also responsible for leading a team.   The GPM can be found writing user stories and grooming a backlog, but also supports a small group of Product Managers who are contributing in the same product area, coaching and mentoring them along the way.

The Group Product Manager role is in a way, a training role for a future Director of Product.  The scope of a GPM’s role is not as large as the Director, nor is it responsible for strategy in the same way, but it is a first step into team leadership.   The Group Product Manager is responsible for driving a strategy forward,  not necessarily for defining that strategy.
